Good progress on the Neon this past week.
Big learning moment of the week was never to trust measurements taken within 4 hours of getting the flu. Nothing like a pretzel for a main hoop!
Interior is pretty much free of any excess weight from the B pillars forward. Left as much of the weight in the rear as possible. Pulled the dash completely ...

We've got quite a list compiled for the ITA Neon. Lots of suspension stuff going on, one of which was installing a set of XX-High springs provided by Performance Driven LLC and will now be sporting 380# rate Front & 276# rate Rear springs vs the 225# Front/185# Rear that were on it last year. We're very excited about these ...

The RX7 went to it's new home yesterday. I never liked loading up in the rain when the car belonged to me... it's even worse when it's no longer yours We loaded up everything during a really heavy period of rain, and of course it let up as soon as they pulled out of the driveway.
So this morning I looked out in my driveway that I thought would ...

The ITA/IT7 RX7 racecar is over at Tuxedo Park Racing, the Sentra's down at AFI getting some work done on it, and as of 18 hours ago, I've got an empty shop. I'm already getting antsy for something to do.
The 3rd Gen FD RX7 was picked up last night after its 6 point Rollbar was finished off. The interior stayed mostly intact although ...

'Vert is still here, but I'm not all that surprised. No worries though, but I would like to get some room in my driveway as things are starting to stack up.
The Spec 944 wasn't quite ready in time so we put him on hold for another week and brought in a 93 NX2000 for a 4 point rollbar. A What???? Nissan NX2000. Yeah, I didn't ...

... not that they're ever all that clever....
The S13 240sx drift car is long gone. Finished it up in about 2 weeks or so. I'm sure that the owner is happily sliding sideways on very cold freaking tires right now!
More happy loose pics at http://www.izzyscustomcages.com/240sxCage.html
The Rallybug control arms are almost ...

So... the chain has been broken, the 20+ cage run has been shattered... and thank G-D! Every cage porject I've worked on I've had to suffer through Puddle of Mud's ''Blurry'' at least once. It's sort of been my ''theme song'' for cage builds whether I wanted it to be or not. I really didn't want to hear it on the rollcage build for the SCCA Solo ...

Rest and relaxation. The ol' R&R. Wait, what happened to that 2 weeks ''off'' I had?
Long Gone! After catching up on some maintenance on the daily drivers, replacing the half-shaft and balljoint on the Sentra SE-R before the St. Louis Region SCCA's final Rallycross in Ewing, IL, I had about another week to kill before another big project ...

I found this over on www.grmotorsports.com and thought I'd keep it handy here. This is a list of aluminized exhaust elbows you can buy at your local NAPA. There are a bunch of good numbers at local stores and warehouses. (45* od/od)DIAMETER/A-B LENGTH/RADIUS/PART NUMBER 2.5''/6''-6''/4''/41438 2.75''/6''-6''/5''/41440 3''/4''-4''/3''/414641 ...

Jeff T's cage continues to progress and believe it or not, Muggy was seen detailing the floorpan until it shined!
Passenger and Driver doorbars are 90% completed. The design consists of the required sill bar and an X bar which are going to be tied together with a short verticle at the X's crossing point. Once the doorbars are finished, the ...

After a short (but productive) delay caused by construction on my house, I'm finally back in the groove again. The Rally car is well under way. Jeff dropped the car off in mid October and the tear down began the next evening. The entire interior was stripped, sound material removed and all of the seams that were accessable with the drivetrain (and ...

I should have seen it coming. No sooner did the '97 Nissan 240sx pull in the shop for a 6 point rollbar, I received a call from my contractor saying that there would be a dumpster showing up Monday morning to block access to my shop.
Crunch time @ Izzy's. Just over 48 hours to get the bar done. The owner had already pulled or partially ...

Ok... I was wrong. Buds BMW wasn't the “last p(roject) for a while.”
Since the contractor “working” (and I use that term loosely) on my house decided to put off work for 2 weeks because the temps were in the 80's and there wasn't any ominous cloud cover, I decided to squeeze in a quick rollbar project while I didn't have ...

... ok, ok... Albin's got nothing to worry about, but he'll soon have another ITB car to see in his rear view mirror (does he even need a rear view mirror???)
Bud Scott's BMW 318i roll cage is complete and ready to send back home!
This will be the last blog for a while as I take a short cage break to start a 2nd Story addition on my house. ...

Ok... the engineers at BMW don't mess around! I've never seen seam sealer as uncooperative and tough as on Bud Scotts 318i. Even with a notted wire wheel the stuff just turns into 3,000 degree shreds of projectile goo that end up all over the car... and sticking there as well.
Aparently, the Bavarians see electrical connectors as potential ...
