Awesome day today at the St. Louis Region SCCA October Double Regional Spooktacular Club Race! Our FIRST First place in ITA and first Overall Win. Things worked in our favor even after a mental error at the start when I forgot that I needed to actually shift from 3rd to 4th. I'm sure I'll have the video up soon.
Good day for the Izzy's Custom ...

The final STL SCCA PDX is coming up this weekend! This is the last PDX of the '08 season and looks to be a very good event. The forecast.... well, we're not going to talk about it so as to not jinx it!
This will be my first time on the track this year and we're going to use the PDX to get me used to the car once again before the ''Spooktacular'' ...

It seems in racing, there's always a plan of attack, then there's Plan B for when things don't quite go as planned.
This past weekend at GIR was the first road race of the year for Plan ''B'' Racing. We made some pretty big changes to the Neon this winter - hopefully to be more competitive than the previous 4 years in SSC and ITA: ...
-
The Neon is coming along nicely if a little slow. Top half of the cage is complete. Main hoop, lateral bars, windshield bar and gussets, roof bar and temple bars are all finished up. 6 of the 8 pads are complete. Still haven't decided the location for the optional 7th/8th points. The old 100 square inch pad rule is enough to allow the front ...

Good progress on the Neon this past week.
Big learning moment of the week was never to trust measurements taken within 4 hours of getting the flu. Nothing like a pretzel for a main hoop!
Interior is pretty much free of any excess weight from the B pillars forward. Left as much of the weight in the rear as possible. Pulled the dash completely ...

We've got quite a list compiled for the ITA Neon. Lots of suspension stuff going on, one of which was installing a set of XX-High springs provided by Performance Driven LLC and will now be sporting 380# rate Front & 276# rate Rear springs vs the 225# Front/185# Rear that were on it last year. We're very excited about these ...

The RX7 went to it's new home yesterday. I never liked loading up in the rain when the car belonged to me... it's even worse when it's no longer yours We loaded up everything during a really heavy period of rain, and of course it let up as soon as they pulled out of the driveway.
So this morning I looked out in my driveway that I thought would ...

The ITA/IT7 RX7 racecar is over at Tuxedo Park Racing, the Sentra's down at AFI getting some work done on it, and as of 18 hours ago, I've got an empty shop. I'm already getting antsy for something to do.
The 3rd Gen FD RX7 was picked up last night after its 6 point Rollbar was finished off. The interior stayed mostly intact although ...
-
I haven't been too intimidated by many projects ("Sure! Lets rip the roof off and build a second story on the house... and live in it while we do it!"), but the FD RX7 in the shop now has me on my best behavior. This 3rd Gen is by far the nicest vehicle to come in to have some work done. Black on black with imaculate leather ...

Ecstatic to see the 'vert gone and getting the attention it deserved, I turned to ebay to see what some of the prices for the parts I have left were fetching. I was none too happy to find my former convertable sitting on ebay itself, not even 2 days after I sold it. I was torn between "you got what you wanted out of it" and ...
-
Woohoo! The vert is gone! I wasn't nearly as sad to see it go as I thought I would be. Possibly because it went to a local guy so their might be a chance I see the car every once in a while at some local shows/cruises. I still have to deal with all of the spares that I had planned on selling with the car. The buyers response was "Why do I ...

The NASA Spec 944 hasn't even left the shop yet and already there's another 944 on the waiting list. It'll have to wait a little while though as next up is a 3rd Gen RX7 for a NHRA 6 point with swing-out doorbars. This particular RX7 just completed a RX7 Dyno Day over at Tuxedo Park Racing and put down some serious numbers in the mid triple ...
-
'Vert is still here, but I'm not all that surprised. No worries though, but I would like to get some room in my driveway as things are starting to stack up.
The Spec 944 wasn't quite ready in time so we put him on hold for another week and brought in a 93 NX2000 for a 4 point rollbar. A What???? Nissan NX2000. Yeah, I didn't ...

... not that they're ever all that clever....
The S13 240sx drift car is long gone. Finished it up in about 2 weeks or so. I'm sure that the owner is happily sliding sideways on very cold freaking tires right now!

The Rallybug control arms are almost ...

Marla got the boot and is getting all prettied up for her big weekend. Before she was even on her way home, an ITS BMW 325 came in for a doorbar update and to remind me how S L O W the TIG process is and how many Ibuprofen's I need to take after TIG ...
