    100 Acre Wood

hey, the StL forum is back!

It's getting to be that time of the year again. The 100 Acre Wood rally will happen again in 2007. February 23-24 are the dates and the event is still part of the Rally-America National schedule as well as the Regional Rally championship for 2006. This hopefully means we will have a lot of entries and top ranked cars as it will be filmed for TV on ESPN2. It's also a qualifier round for the X Games.
You'll also get to see & cheer for s2o's Mugwump as he runs for the PGT championship for 2006.

Apparantly motel rooms are already starting to become hard to find, so if you even think you might be coming and need a room, get one soon. Motel contacts can be found at the website, www.100aw.org
We will be running the event through Viburnum and Potosi this year so you might consider those areas for motels if Salem fills up.
The National event status also means we will need more volunteers than ever, so please consider coming out to help, even if it's only for one day. Online registration is now up on the website.

Registration will be in Salem at the Holiday-Inn meeting room on rally days and probably at the Salem fire house on Thursday. If you have any questions, I can be contacted at "curt at 100aw dot org".

    Re: 100 Acre Wood

If anybody was on the fence about coming, we still need volunteers to help esp. on Saturday.  Road Marshals are always needed and no experience required.  A Marshal sits at intersecting roads to the rally route and keeps non-competitors/locals off of the route and ensures the safety that the road is closed.  Plus they get their own spot in the forest to spectate from, free tshirt, lunch and invitation to the free after party Sat. night.   Another job we could use help with is Control workers.  They time the cars in and out of the stage and is good place to see the cars and drivers up close.

There will also be 4-5 spectator areas if you don't want to volunteer and want to check it out.  Those areas will be posted on the website in a week or two and spectator guides will be available at the rally to assist in finding out.

Working a start control is a really fun experience.  If you've never seen a 400 hp AWD car launch at 7000 rpm with anti-lag it's a site to see.

I was taking photos of the cars at the start control.... and it was really cool...  and start control workers see the same stuff I see thru the camera lens.  Therefore working a start control is cool.

Technically I was "working" on taking video at the "start control".

43 entries and counting :)  Early reg. cutoff is still 8 days away so it should grow from there.

4 entries from StL area so far including the famous multi-talented Jeep.  Muggy you out there?  Your car/class aren't listed yet.  Does this mean you are renting a VT Open car?  Way to get Cody as the codriver. No offense to your previous codriver.Angel  Hope that works out.

Tuxedo Park should take notice that there is a RX8 entered.  It's even silver :)

Can't wait to get out there. I'll try to get some carnage photos this year.  One of the wrecks I recovered last year would have made cool photos.  It was a WRX that was on fire and on its lid in a ditch.  Would have made great photos but I just had my hands full.....hey, I couldn't let 'em burn!

Yeah, I plan on extending the Muggy vs. Pastrana streak to 3-0 Wink  Unfortunately, I'll have to do it again in my lowly RS.  R-A has a new registration thing online that is nice, but it requires alot of info to put your car in that I'll have to look up.

Well, I'll be heading out in the morning.  I'm very excited.  Time to stick it to those pesky turbo cars Wink

If you can't make it down, you can check out my progress (or lack there of) with R-A's live updates.

What is wrong with a little rain to keep the dust down? As long as it is not raining all day the gravel tires will be fine.
