    100 Acre Wood thread

post #500, so thought I'd make it count.

Just wanted to make sure everyone on here knows all about the 100 Acre Wood Rally coming up Feb. 24-25, 2006.  I know it was mentioned a month or two ago that we will be on the National schedule for Rally-America as well as the Regional Rally Championships.  That means the new "factory" Subaru USA team will be there and hopefully PatR and Stig.  That also means we will need lots of volunteers to help out.  You can help out by being a Marshall, Control worker, Sweep, Med, or HAM radio.  All volunteers get free goodies like hats (except Pete) and t shirts and get to go the after party Party!!! [<:o)] in Salem with free food Pizza [pi] and Fat Tire Beer [B].  If you want a motel room down there, act fast, because there aren't many left.  Volunteer registration is open online at http://100aw.org and I've already heard from several of you.  If you can't work, you should still come down to cheer on Muggy at the specator points.

I am the volunteer coordinator so if you have any questions, post them here or email/pm me.

... and some Future Champions!  I encourage everyone to come.  If you are hesitant to volunteer.. why?  If you come as a spectator, you'll get lost trying to find the spectator areas, and possibly late, can't find a place to park, then you'll be in a crowded area trying get a glimpse of a rally car over someone's shoulder.  If you volunteer to be a course marshall you will be escorted to the stage and posted in very private location with just you and nature and perfect view of rally cars flying by!  Don't miss it!

Not with my maps on the website!

No really, being a marshall is the best way to watch it.

fyi, there's updates to the website.  Supps are up for those that are competing and schedule is up for everyone else.  There will be more info about worker registration and training in the next day or three.

that's the pic I wanted to see.  We heard all about how Fredo went off in the first turn of the first stage and was dangling from the trees.  There was lots-o carnage on all the ice and no forgiving snow banks to help out.  Fun time was had though.  More info on that in a couple weeks.Wink [;)]

no freakin' kidding!  I've missed mardi gras two of the last 3 yrs because of the rally.  I was thinking of throwing beads from the Subie as I run 000 lead car.  Now if there was only a reason to throw the beads  Devil [6]

Unfortunately it's not a matter of picking weekends.  It's kinda been decided for us by history and seasons.  We need to get the Catholics to change Lent for us Smile [:)]

I haven't listed when the worker training sessions are yet, so here it is.

Tues. 2/7 and Wed. 2/15 at Doug Jenkins' Hot Rod Shop from 5-7pm.  Also in Salem on Wed. 2/22 7:30pm at the Armory TCRC.  Training should only take about 30min, but we'll there til 7 or Doug throws us out.  For directions goto www.100aw.org

    Re: 100 Acre Wood thread

Just incase any of you want to be real rally troopers: ok directions to campsite: Hwy. 21 to Potosi Right onto Hwy. 8 (gas station @ corner) Left @ 1st light onto Hwy. P Right onto Hwy. C Right onto Hwy. Z (up hill, over crest turns to gravel) Hazle Creek Camp Ground is near bottom of hill on left hand side. Now I've said this before and I MUST reitterate it. This is a gravel road, if your car is low proceed with caution especially one you enter into the campground. Last time I was there it was pretty rutted out so go slow and pick your line. We will be departing St.Louis on Friday morning around 6am. List of what to bring if you're joining us: Fire Wood, please bring some to contribute Your OWN Food, Alcohol, Water etc.. everyone is on their own. Tent sleeping bag appropriate to the conditions, its gonna be freakin cold so you better have a bag good into the negative temps warm clothes, but dress in layers as the temps vary greatly during the day then plummet at night. The camp grounds have bathrooms but no running water, please dont pee in the creek behind the sites. General camping notes: Dont trash the place, we have trash bags (bring some too) so lets use them. Respect everyone elses stuff If you forgot or need something, ask, dont steal it..we're an amiable group but respect is key If you have FRS radios for gods sake bring them and spare batteries. We'll be leaving the 'lou friday at 6 am (ish)

    Re: 100 Acre Wood thread

One last bump for the event.  It's this coming weekend, friday and sat.  There are 52 cars entered so far about half of which are Subes, plus some Evos, a 70's Escort Mk2, a Mustang that'll be loads of fun to watch, a 73 911 and other fun stuff.  We also have 5 locals running, which is 4 more than usual.
The spectator maps are up on our website listed above.  Or you can still sign up to marshall or just show up at registration in Salem.  So far the weather forecast is for clear and near 50.
    Hope to see you there.

Talked yourself out?  WTF?  Jeff is in the rally, the weather looks great, and there are tons of kick ass spectator points.  This is a national rally with guys going 10x as fast as last year!
