So, What's Up With Grand Prix Speedway?

I noticed that the sign on the side of the building is now being turned on at night.  If no one is there, why would anyone waste the electricity?  Seems odd that they'd turn the sign on.  Is something up?

Well, from what I've heard it doesn't sound like it will be opening up for racing anytime soon, possibly it will become a house of the lord?

I was there with the bank dude when the last of the stuff was being packed up and carted off. Forget the date, but about the first of the year, and during a really nice snowfall. I can't imagine something happening with karts again, someone just forgot the breaker.

The sign had been out for some time, but it has been on now for a couple of weeks.  As mentioned, it just seems odd that someone would turn it on and leave it on.  I think it's even on during the day??

Funny, my wife asked me the same question about the lights beign on.  Interested on what the future holds in store for that property.

I passed by yesterday and it looked like the black paint on the big sign was peeling or something.  I'm confused.

When I was at Chicago Indoor Karting a few months ago they mentioned that they had bought much of the equipment, except for the karts.  They are opening another location in the Chicago area.

They bought the karts, too, with the intention of reselling to facilities which use electric karts.

A company in California got the karts from what I understand.

The lighted sign, on the side of the building, has been on all day, every day, for the last two weeks.  Yeah, Saturday too.

Possibly a contact or relay went bad and faulted?  Or some bank goon was in there looking around and flipped all the switches turning the lights on and left that one on b/c nothing happened when he hit the switch.

The Karts were bought (with everything else) by Chicago Indoor Racing. When the deal went down they had already had them sold to K-1 Speed (Calf). One (or two) of the semi's went stright to K-1 from GPS.

It's NOT the banks fault. Anyone the spends 18M for something that should cost under 3 is doomed to fail. CIR cost under 3m and is at something north of  140,000 racer served.

Here, here!  It was a poor, upside down bussiness model for this area.
