all red car front row!  Lewis starting 13th should be interesting to see how far up he can make it--hopefully no more than about 6th.

The guy who is leading the championship is the guy with whom I have a psychic connection ( and we also share some appearance characteristics).  It's nice to see a guy on top of the podium who actually enjoys winning and appears to be human.

Bit of a problem with Kimis car or else he would have had it.  And Jarno with the 3rd placeYesBeer.  I'm glad he finally gets a podium, I think he deserves it.

Jarno Is The Man!!!! If he wasn't with unfortunate teams, he would have been one of the all time greats.

I never understood why Flavio went with Fisci over him to be Alonso's teammate.  That is, I never understood until last year....

That had to be Massa's worst race ever.  Nice to see Rubens on the podium, though.

    Re: FORMULA 1 THIS WEEKEND!!

Boy, Lewis was fast today.  I do think Massa threw it away on the re-start after the safety car laps.  I went back and re-watched that re-start and he was 4 sec back of Lewis with 3 cars in between them.  Massa should have passed 1-2 of those guys on the re-start, but I guess he figured that with Lewis still having to stop, he had it made--oops.  Probably never gave Piquet a second thought either.  Nice to see them luck into that second.

    Re: FORMULA 1 THIS WEEKEND!!

I think the car was just slow and there was nothing for it.  He couldn't touch Lewis at any point in the race and even at the end, he couldn't challenge freaking Pequod.  It had nothing to do with the restart IMO.

Who saw Spa?  How was that for exciting finishes?  I was yelling at the tv with so much back and forth on the last couple laps.

...Then I hear the next day about the penalty :(  I'm no Lewis or Mclaren fan but that is a crappy thing to do after the fact.

It's a crappy thing to do after the fact, but I guess it's hard to enforce with only 2 laps left.

    Re: FORMULA 1 THIS WEEKEND!!

    Let me get this straight:

    1) Kimi runs Lewis out of road on corner exit as is common these days

    2) Lewis cuts the last part of the chicane rather than wrecking them both

    3) Lewis pulls completely behind Kimi before the next corner

    4) Lewis is penalized for getting a competitive advantage via shortcutting the chicane and not letting the car he passed get back around him

Were the stewards watching the same footage I saw on Speed Sunday? It is almost looking like the FIA is still holding a grudge against McLaren

    Re: FORMULA 1 THIS WEEKEND!!

well from what i've read, the "advantage" came from Lewis getting his draft and then being able to pass him in the next corner

its all a bunch of crap if you ask me, F1 Live had an article monday titled "The weekend racing died" which i thought was quite true given the way things have been going

I'm moving to Theory, everything works there.

    Re: FORMULA 1 THIS WEEKEND!

I guess he wouldn't have been able to get in a drafting position unless he had all that grip from the grass on his tires. Huh?

Were the stewards watching the same footage I saw on Speed Sunday? It is almost looking like the FIA is still holding a grudge against McLaren

    1) Kimi drove his line and clearly had the corner.  Hammy was being overly optimistic trying to pass on the outside at the bus stop

    2) Hammy deliberately chose to take the escape route rather than a) back off or b) put maybe two wheels off in the grass

    3) He did indeed allow Kimi to technically retake the lead, however:

    4) had the escape road not been there or had he not taken it, there is no way he would have been that close to kimi given the botched passing attempt and thus he would not have been able to make the pass that he did.

The rules aren't that you just have to give back the position if you cut the course, but that you can gain no advantage by doing so.  I think the stewards are right; he did not fully relinquish the advantage he gained by choosing not to follow the proper course and then used that gained advantage to realize a gain in position.

Not that I'm biased or anything Smile
