    Pointfest

I haven't been to a Pointfest in nearly a decade, but I'm really looking forward to going this weekend.  I am chaperoning my 16 yr old sister and some of her girlfriends.  Wish me luck.  Anyone else going that I might bump into?

Shame you couldn't make it Dan.  I felt like an old man because I didn't see anyone there I knew besides my sister's friends.  I bet you know how to have a good time at Pointfest.  Devil

A lot has changed since I last went to a Pointfest.  4 Stages instead of 2;   3 side stages and the main.  And if you want to watch the performances, up front is not the place to be.  I was up front in the pit for a few performances, and I found that I spent more time looking over my shoulder for the next crowd surfer or the next incoming flying projectile than I did watching the bands.  I must have passed 100 people over my head yesterday.  Oh, and the mosh pits were interesting.  Saw some dudes doing some kung fu like moves, and some random guy got his earring ripped out, some breakdancing,.. madness.  I love it.  After the side stage shows were over, the main stage performances seemed tame in the lawn.  I think the main stage bands were not too impressed by the crowd.  Filter was the first band on the main stage and they didn't really get the crowd going.  I have to hand it to Killswitch Engage because they really turned it around.  Their lead guitarist stole the show when he came out with a blow up doll on his back and heckled the crowd between each song.  I'm not a big fan of their music but they put on a good show.

    Re: Pointfest

Ahh Pointfest.... I was a huge fan back in the day.  I went to PF 7 through 11 I believe.  Then I lost interest, and have since outgrown the crowd.  But it sure used to be fun.... I won't mention the trouble I would get myself into out there, all day at a concert, with no chaperone like James.......

But I've since sworn off that place.  Ever since it is no longer 'Riverport' with the new owners; Verizon or whomever I won't go back.

Last show I went to I spent 45+ minutes in line for a beer, went back and watched 30-minutes of concert.  Back for one more beer, waited in line another 40 minutes only to be denied once I get up front because it was 'cutoff' time.  This was not an all day event, just a regular show.

I spent more time in line for a drink than I did of actually watching of the show.  Besides that, I couldn't believe they didn' have more vendors open- they would be making a killing on the stadium prices they charge.
