Go Speed Go! Live Action Movie!

The only thing that could possibly be better than the live action Initial D movie is live action Speed Racer produced by Wachowski brothers!

I'm already buying my tickets :)

But why is there a 6 on the Mach 5?

Not sure about Christina Ricci as Trixie, but the bad guy sounds just like the bad guy on the show.

I didn't know little Steven Burkett was in a movie:

Probably missed the # deadline and was out there with duct tape trying to make the 5 a 6 so that T&S wouldn't yell at him.

Less than two weeks away!  I'll be at the theater on the 9th and hopefully the mega-theater in Chesterfield has it. Geeked

There seems to be a Mach 5 and the above mentioned #6.  Think maybe there'll be a crash, hmmm?

Call me what you will, but for some reason I seem not to have a lot of interest in the movie.  It just seems to have strayed away from the original cartoon and is now just a ton of CG and special effects.  Only time will tell what happens, but I think that it probably won't be as big of a hit as the producers/companies anticipated.

That's no joke.  As much as I like the idea of it, the more I see of it I just think that it's going to suck.

I've been avoiding watching the trailers (as I always do with movie I want to see) so I'm keeping my hopes up.  It debuts on my Bday so I figure it will be a good excuse for Holly to take me on a date.

From what I have seen, that is not the case at all, other than it being CG.  Apparantly the W. brothers are big fans of the cartoon and all of the character names are the same, including the bad guys, the voices are the same (Racer X sounds just like the cartoon when his mask is on).  They have a Mammoth car and not one person gets killed, just like the cartoon.  They even have the same sound effects.

I was re-watching some cartoons the other day and they talk about the Mach 5 having "5000hp to each wheel", so how much more silly can it get?

We just bought the cartoons on DVD for my four year old... pretty silly stuff indeed.

Not to hijack the thread, but I heard a rumor of a Schleestak invasion this Summer also...

Just got back from seeing it, and it was freakin great.  Very faithful to the cartoons, although I coulda done with less sappy scenes with his parents.  Spritle and Chim Chim steal the show.

Do yourself a favor if you're gonna go see it and go to the mega theater.  The all digi pictures are outstanding and the surround sound can't be beat.  That absynth outta make for an intersting viewing :)  It's very kid friendly, btw.

I must say, I've never watched Speed Racer on TV, and didn't have much interest in seeing the movie based on the trailers.

    But holy cow, EXCELLENT MOVIE!

    A must see!
