I should have seen it coming. No sooner did the '97 Nissan 240sx pull in the shop for a 6 point rollbar, I received a call from my contractor saying that there would be a dumpster showing up Monday morning to block access to my shop.
Crunch time @ Izzy's. Just over 48 hours to get the bar done. The owner had already pulled or partially removed most of the interior, but there was one problem... Dynamatte... EVERYWHERE. For those that haven't worked around Dynamatte, picture black tar/gum with an aluminum foil backing. It sticks to everything and is a serious mess to work around.
After removing some of the DynoGoo, the install went fairly straightforward. The doorbars were a bit of a challenge as the Sparco seat and doorpanels left little room to snake a 1.75” tube through. Since the car is a street car, we tried to keep the bars from intruding too much. The owner is 6'4”, so we had to have a fair amount of layback in the seat.
So, after ~ 33 hours of install (and 6 hours of sleep) the 240sx made it out of the shop about 45 minutes before the dumpster showed up. More pics of the painted bar and interior reinstall coming soon.
