Ok... the engineers at BMW don't mess around! I've never seen seam sealer as uncooperative and tough as on Bud Scotts 318i. Even with a notted wire wheel the stuff just turns into 3,000 degree shreds of projectile goo that end up all over the car... and sticking there as well.
Aparently, the Bavarians see electrical connectors as potential failure points so they overengineered them. Not a single connector for the rear harness wires between the fuse box and the tail-lights or between the FB and the fuel pump. Of course the wires are routed in the optimum spots for cage pads too!
On a positive note, they use about 4” thick foam padded carpet so they don't have to use the black tar sound deadening material that most other companies seem to use.
Bud's rollcage in the 318i is nearing completion. The main hoop, halo, downbars, dashbar and 7th/8th points are finished. The doorbars have been refitted to fit around the welded areas at the node points and will be finished off today.

The rear hoop braces and pads will be all that remain. Waiting on a larger flare tool in order to make a clean pass through the bulkhead like I did on a previous BMW 2002
