Bud Scott's BMW 318i is in the shop for the start of it's Improved Touring B (ITB) conversion. The 318 will get a TIG welded, through the dash, 8 point cage. Before any cage work could really begin, there was some fairly serious rust repair that was necessary.

Replacement panels were formed from 20 ga. steel. 3 individual pieces were used on the passenger side floorpan, rocker and firewall. Only one formed piece was needed on the drivers side, though there was an aditional patch needed on the firewall.

Once the rust repair was 90% completed (still a small fix needed under the GO pedal), cage pad installation was ready to begin.

As of 8/12/05, the front pads have been completed, the main hoop, diagonal, halo, halo supports and dashbar have been test fit and installed. Doorbars and 7/8th points will follow along with the harness bar and rear hoop braces and x bars.
