Now I get it!!!

Well, I finally get what all the Miata hoopla is about. I took the just completed Spec Miata out for a spin and had a grin ear to ear when I got back.

I've always thought that they were fun looking cars. From being swarmed by them coming into the carousel at Gateway International Raceways road coarse, I knew that they handled well and had a decent amount of power. But WOW! What a great little car! As far as I know, the Miata has a fairly new1.6 liter rebuilt by OK Miata out of Oklahoma (after it suffered the dreaded crank pully fiasco while on track at Hallett), and some Falken R compounds and what I assumed was the Spec Miata suspension.

The chassis was definitely stiff after the new cage, and the car felt great as I tossed it around a few turns here and there. What I didn't know was that the stiffness of the car was due to the new cage! The owner informed me that the suspension on the car is 160,000+ miles worth of original!

Hmmm, it might be getting close to time for me to unload the boring Honda Accord 4 door as well as the 65 Dart Convertible and get me a fun daily driver....
