Bwah, hah, hah. The sad thing is that someone spent a LOT of time putting that monstrosity together.

It looks almost bad as the "sixteen hour cage" (TM) that is going in the 100AW car this week. :D (okay it actually looks a lot worse).

Steven.. you should market the 16 hour cage! Considering the time constraint you were on, that cage was quite impressive!

Paul, it's worse in person than in the pictures. The main hoop bends aren't symetrical and it actually leans to the passenger side. The front rails.... you're guess is as good as mine as what the builder was thinking. The customer provided me with pics of what he wanted. The only resemblance was the front attachment point location and the fact that it was made out of tubing.

This cage WASN'T built by someone in their backyard with a Harbor Freight Pipe Bender and a flux core 80 amp mig.

I'm not the type of guy to stand behind other people's work, but having witnessed the situation, I belive there was an issue with a customer not paying his bill and that may have something to do with the quality of the cage. I don't know about you guys, but I don't work very hard when I think I'm not getting paid.

Quality work is quality work. It shouldn't matter if its a $200 rollbar or a $2000 cage. Pride in your work doesn't only happen when the check's in hand.

Of course there was an issue with the customer not paying his bill!
Who in there right mind would fork over their hard earned cash for the cage pictured?

The owner doesn't seem to have any issue with cutting the old cage out and paying me to install a new one.

Nothing goes out my door that I wouldn't put my name on and stand behind 100%.

LOL. Now that's funny. I've worked extremely hard before and walked away with nothing to show for it. There are plenty of other birds in the nest that have done the same.

Ummmm... not paying his bills eh?

The person in question recieved payment + more compensation... I doubt you really witnessed the situation. Because the person got in return for the services presented, $650 + on top of that he recieved a 89 nissan 240sx that is being turned into a race car.

not only after full payment arrangments had been met it took the said person over 3 months to create that monstrosity.

He then had the audacity to try to charge me extra on top of that for a steering wheel adaptor and $50 [edit] screws to hold up the window.

The only reason you problably even said anything about not paying the bill. Is because of the crap job done on the cage. I wanted to get a second opinion before I paid him for the [edit] screws and steering wheel adaptor. Which he can have back if he ever contacts me.

Also the only part that was put together before full arranged payment was made was the main hoop nothing else.

After full arranged payment was made, the cage was built in a very slow mannor (which would usually indicate taking time and doing the job right) But it came out looking like that.

It would be a nice thing (and the right thing) if the person who screwed up would take responsibility for his messup and refund the money which I spent. So maybe his reputation will not be tarnished.

I guess the original builder in question wasn't concerned about the safety of the end user, now were they?

Would any of you out there trust that P.O.S with your life? I think not.....
