74 Bimmer Cage (p2)

The latest cage at Izzy's is complete. We finished up the “mail-order” cage for our California customer and will be shipping it in the next few days.

The customer (Rancho Arroyo Grande Winery), requested a 6 point, SCCA legal roll cage with an offset harness bar (Driver is 6'8“ tall), single door bars and rear hoop braces that would attach at the union of the inner wheel-well and rocker panel. The customer will fit the cage and do the final welding in the car. The main hoop diagonal and offset harness bar was TIG welded here at our shop. Everything else was tacked together to ensure quality of fit and to show the customer the orientation and placement of the tubes.

After being broken down, the cage will be crated and shipped COD to California. The 2002 it will reside in will be an open track day car.

Our next project at Izzy's will be the retrofitting of a new main hoop and downbars on a Classic Lola Formula Ford club racer. Stay tuned for more details.

I just can't imagine a 6'8" person driving a BMW 2002. LOL!

That's no kidding! The roofline is actually pretty tall though. The main hoop is about 42 inches tall.
