350Z Kumho 710 Install

Dave helped me mount the Kumho 710s on the stock 17” rims tonight. I tell you, it WASN'T easy! It took the two of us to do them all. The fronts were by far the worst. The stock 17 7.5” wheel is probably too little wheel for the Kumho 710 in a 275. We'll see in Arkansas if the tires are too wide for the car! Hopefully the 1/4” spacer will help to make them fit alright. More on that after the Arkansas National Tour!

I am a novice autoxer and love autoxing my Z. I would love to ask you a few questions so that I can make changes to my Z but still stay in B-Stock. I read the GCR for solo and see that a 1/4" offset is allowed. Would adding offset make the stance of the car wider therefore adding a slight performance gain? Is it worth making this change? Would a spacer acomplish the same thing? Thx.

Yes, adding a 1/4" spacer can be a performance improvement, as well as creating more room for tires in the wheel well. We run a spacer on the front of the Z this year, I have 2 more to run on the rear, but we haven't felt the need to extend the rear out at all.

Great, thx for your quick response.

I read in an earlier post that you run these alignment settings:
- Camber FL -0.7degrees FR -1.2degrees RL -2.0degrees RR -2.0degrees
- Toe FL -.08degrees FR -.10degrees RL -0.01degrees RR 0.03degrees

Do you recommend this setting or is this specific to your setup.
My car is completely stock except for the tires:

GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3
- F: 245 45 17
- R: 265 45 17

I'd run whatever negative camber you can get (there no adjustment) and the stock toe settings until you really get hard core into autocross. toe out will only make your street tires wear faster, so if you're not autocrossing full bore then I'd run the stock alignment specs.

Where did you get the 1/4" spacers, I've looked online but have not been successful.

Thanks again.

Also, someone told me that:

"The GCR also states that the added stance associated with the permitted 1/4" offset is legal also. My GTO was limited on camber adjustment with stock tire and wheel configuration. I mounted wheels that have an additional 1/4" offset over the stock wheels. My negative camber options went from -.2 degrees max with tires touching the struts to - 1.7 degrees and clear. I'm running -1.0 degrees and really like the improvement. Note that when I mounted the tires and wheels with the increased offset I had to tilt the front wheels in to avoid bumping the fenders. In short, I think the biggest gain is the added negative camber setting range. I'm new to all of this also, but I would stay away from the spacers and find a set of wheels with the offset you want."

I got mine from a local speed shop here in St. Louis.

How exactly do you mount your wheels at an angle???
