SRS Street Racing Syndicate Game Review
Well, I've had SRS Street Racing Syndicate for about 3 weeks now, and I guess it's time to post some thoughts on the game.
My first impression was very bismal. The game is extremely flashy in coloring and graphics. You first start out on a sort of practice training mission, so that they can get you acustomed to the game. The track (streets), and surroundings are all very bright and shiney in the dark night sky, the street itself looks like ice reflecting the lights of the city, and there are so many neon and florescent lights that it makes you want to just put the game back in the box and return it to wherever you picked it up from. Luckily that little mission's ambiance doesn't seem to reflect the rest of the game, at least not that I have yet seen.
Once you get past the training mission you have some cash that you can buy your first car. There are quite a few cars you can choose from in the beginning, I chose a Mitsubishi Eclipse. There are countless number of races around the city in which you can challenge other drivers for $$$. I did a few races, yet I didn't earn any money! Be sure when you do a challenge race that you actually MAKE a wager with whomever you are racing, instead of just looking at what they would wager and then racing.
After earning some kizzash you can head back to your garage and start hopping up the car. There are quite a few name brand parts you can rice the car up with. Everything from a larger turbo, to your straight out of the box NOS kit.
Once you get past the initial training mission the game play isn't too bad. The physics seem fairly normal, besides when you push the NOS button, and if you hit something you will damage your car, which will cost you $$$ to fix.
The point of the game is to earn $$$ and respect with the street racing crowd. It's littered with eye candy for the boys playing the game. Part of earning respect is to gain the respect of a girl and I believe get her as your girlfriend. I seem to be able to win every race I enter, but have yet to earn a girlfriend in the game! What does that tell ya, or me rather?
Overall, SRS isn't a bad little racing game. It isn't a GT3, but it really isn't trying to be. If you see it used, for rent, or even full price, pick it up and check it out. Then of course post a comment here and let me know what you think.
I run this place.
