have had problems launching the car lately, launch at 3.5k rpm then the car bogs down as well as the rpm after having a small spin to push the car out....

    thanks

    Red line
    Pop the clutch

Depends on the car, what do you drive again?

does it always have to be in redline??? i mean, ive seen people spin tires running 3k and still the rev keeps increasing, while mine drops as the wheel stops spinning....

it is a 120hp mitsu lancer, ff car...

and what do you mean pop the clutch? press in then completely depress quickly?

im taking into consideration the clutch and some stuff....

ive also tried to burnout completely before and it was successful, its just that when the tires stop spinning, the rev drops dramatically.....

    thanks sir!

The revs will always drop when the wheels stop spinning. It doesn't matter how much horsepower the car has. The best way to launch your car is to try to spin the wheels a little while not slipping the clutch too much.

I was kidding about the redline thing ;)

each car will differ, but like lynn said, you want enough RPM to make the tires spin a little, but not too much

I have a Lancer too. I rev it up to about 5500 RPM and pretty much just let the clutch in quickly and floor the gas pedal as soon as I feel it engage. But then again I have a carbon-kevlar clutch. And lightweight aluminum flywheel. And AWD. And 300 hp. Okay, nevermind. :p

I once launched a rental "e;baby Lancer"e; (no offense). I revved it up as high as I dared and moved the shift lever from "e;N"e; to "e;D"e;. :D

    Let the half-shafts fly! :D

    Novice,

Try using more revs. 3500 doesn't seem high enough to me. Its bogging down because your getting too low on the power curve. Probably don't need the red line, but 4500 would be better. In my car I launch between 4500 and 6000 dependng on the surface and the first part of the course. If the course has a fast start I'll use the higher RPM. If its a slow start just try to get tings in motion so that your up on the power curve when everything hooks up. Use a smooth motion and maybe slip it a bit to manage wheelspin.

And once that clutch goes up in smoke: http://www.worksevo.com/store/index...p?cPath=36

WORKS makes clutches for the Lancer/Lancer RalliArt as well. I highly recommend the CK2/Spin clutch-flywheel combo. :D
