I have only autocrossed FWD and a WRX, and will be stepping to a RWD car for a couple events this year.

What should I be prepared for with 400+ hp in a light RWD car? And what platform does everybody suggest I use more often?

The Damned Neon and the Cone-Killing WRX are both available for almost every event, unless the WRX goes in trade for something new.

I've been trying very, very hard to get my dad to return to his roots and get a new mustang. All I need to do is call a few friends at local dealerships and see what kind of deal we can get.

I'm not really too keen on codriving a car that scares the piss out of me, and I've only ridden shotgun so far. But, if I take to it like I did to the neon, I might be building a clone car over next winter.

[/QUOTE]Speaking from experience, you're going to have your hands FULL in a powerful RWD car. I autox'd for two year in the WRX and picked up lots of bad habits (and never did learn to get the car to turn properly). I'm still nowhere near where I'd like to be in Misty (200whp miata) but I can tell you that you'll be amazed at how different RWD feels--and that any bad habits you've picked up will come to light quickly (usually in the forms of dramatic spins). It's likely that your reactions for FWD/AWD will get you into trouble with RWD.

As for the fun factor, I can't imagine that RWD can be beat in my very limited experience.

Big spins? 265/40/17's won't like that, will they? :(

Although, I am no stranger to looking out my driver or passenger window and having to count how many seconds will be added to my time.

As much as neons are ugly, I won't intentionally make it that dirty... and pops knows that if his X goes off-roading, I will likely break something.

A friend of mine rally-x-ed his modded S4. Didn't wash it or anything for a few days. Sadly, the car is impounded and that friend is being charged with a few felonies.

Cass!!! I just registered and the first post I saw was this one. Who's letting you drive their car next season? 400 hp, light, RWD? It's not one of the LS1 FC's is it? If it is, it's gonna be a smoke show. :D

BTW, drive the Neon. It's cheaper to mod, cheaper to abuse, and you know your dad won't let you have as much fun as you can have in your own car. I can still hear him groaning about the 5k rpm clutch drop launches.

    That wasn't 5k! It was more like 6.5k :D

I've talked (offered money) to Owen, and I'll be taking his for a few laps. If I can learn hypnosis, I'll try to get a comparison between 2 or 3 of the ls1fc's. Hopefully, it has enough grip to match my enthusiasm.

I have a feeling the neon is going to blow up this year... there is only so much abuse a 100K+ engine can take. (for those of you who haven't gathered, I am no stranger to a rev limiter, or billows of tire smoke, and I have videos to prove it)
