After a year of great learning in RWD, I've decided that I'm going to repeat either phase I or II of Evo School--which one I haven't decided. I did a couple seasons in a slightly modded WRX (STX)(both phases of Evo School in this car) and am now in an SM2 Miata for those who don't know. Thanks to lots of help from Andy Hohl and Bud Scott I have improved a lot over the past season, but still nowhere near where I'd like to be after a year in the car. Here is what my perception of my driving is right now:

    1. I need to continue learning higher speed car control. While I may know what to do in my mind in a certain situation the motions still aren't instict yet.

    2. Usually have my head up OK according to others, but sometimes I have a hard time during some sections of a course--just something to continue working on.

    3. My typical driving style is too reserved by some people's judgement--guess I tend to drive more like a road racer in the respect that I start slow and try to put more speed down with each run. Have to make myself put my foot in it sometimes (and my brain usually forgets to change braking points accordingly until I'm ploughing through a wall of cones).

    4. Still trying to get rid of some bad habits picked up in AWD vehicles. Still amazed sometimes that the Miata will actually turn.

Assuming I have to pick either phase I or II (not both unless something changes), which one should I go for? I really need to go out on R comps for grip purposes/on the limit driving, but how terrible would it be to go out on Azenias for Evo School since I'd be chewing through them in nothing flat (and put R comps on for the autox the following day)?

I'm not an Evo School addict, but IMO I think the Phase II will do you a little better...with your skill level, I would *think* a Phase I would be repetitive.

Maybe you and Beth could start a support group for women autocrossers who aren't as agressive as they should be while autocrossing? :) :)

You might ask Jean Kinser. I can see benifit from either. Phase I is about line and learning how and where to attack and when to be patient. Phase II is about connecting your brain to the eyes, hands and feet.

If you think it's technique maybe Phase I. If you think you know the technique, but just can't make it happen in Misty, Phase II. Andy and Bud may have some more valid ideas since they've spent seat time with you.
