driving the Z got me thinking about the types of cars i've raced and in what environment, so i've decided to compile a list.

Sealed Surface
Front/AWD-GS 2.5RS
Front/AWD Turbo-AS EVO VIII, AS STi
Front/FWD-STX Prelude SH, stock Celica GT, others?
Front/FWD LSD-DSP Civic Si, GS SCX
Front/RWD-BS 350Z, EP RX-7, CS Miata
Mid/RWD-nada
RWD Turbo-nada
FWD Turbo-nada

Loose Surface
Front/AWD-variety of 2.5RS in various states of tune
Front/AWD Turbo-EVO VIII, WRX
Front/FWD-nada
Front/RWD turbo-Thunderbird T-Coupe
Mid/RWD-MR2 (ice)
Front/RWD-nada
FWD Turbo-nada

am i missing any categories? or cars? i'm sure i am. its early.

i definitely have most of my experience in slow AWD. need more practice with power and RWD especially i think. though i'm suprised by how little i've competed in FWD. it seems odd. i must be forgeting something

oh, one last thing. i've broken down the categories based on how they drive and how you drive them. i.e. a FWD car with a quaife is very, very different to drive then a FWD car with an open diff, etc.

Well, let's see....

I've autocrossed:

'98 Contour SVT
'94 Miata R Package
'98 BMW 318ti
'00 Impreza RS
'82 Renault Le Car :D
'04 Mini Cooper
but never a '79 Fiesta, despite the best of intentions... :(

When it comes to rallycross, the Impreza has been my one and only. Maybe the Fiesta should be a rallycross car instead. Hmmm... ;)

Not a very long list for me:

STX WRX
STS 2.5 RS
bone stock STi
DSP Civic
EP RX-7 (one 20s T&T run)

If Andy posts his list, he'll probably fill up Chris' file server! ;)

Andy has a fading memory so the server is safe. :D

edit: I will say the Cobra kit car w/ the 500+ rwhp 462c.i. small block on BFG Drag Radials I autocrossed last Thursday at the Run & Gun was quite a hoot, makes me want to build one and put proper tires on it.

Hmmm, lets see:

the first event every was in my
92 Olds Ciera

then I bought the
83 VW rocco

then I wasn't ready with my Z24 so I drove the GF's
98 Pont. GP SE

Then I sold the z24 and bought an
83 VW GTI

And now I bought another Z24 but I'm not sure it will ever see the autoX unless my GTI is down.

99 Mustang Cobra
94 Integra RS
97 Integra Type R
80's RX-7 (the Burkett mobile)
79 Mustang
01(?) Celica GTS
1st gen ACR
1st gen 1.6 Miata (Andy's)
04 STi

Some call me crazy, but I really like FWD. I would like to try some more AWD cars though.

I really like the idea of a STX WRX wagon.....

so muggy, the age-old question is, how does the Evo stack up to the STi?

perhaps it has. Carpeneter is planning on something else next year though, maybe you could get *the* celica ;)

as for EVO/STi. i ran my car in the event. PAX'ed 2nd i do believe, would have been #1 but for a bloody cone. anyway, made 3 runs in the EVO. i was ~1.5sec faster in the EVO then my RS. the EVO was bone stock except for Azenis. my first run was the fastest due, i suspect, to the Azenis getting too hot during the fast pace of fun runs. the EVO would turn in beautifully. just trail brake it/lift throttle and the nose would tuck in cleanly. the steering and seats are second to none. it would all fall apart by the apex though. you'd get back on the gas and my old nemisis Understeer would return. once again, possibly due to cooked tires.

i then made one run in Andy's STi, stock but for victos. the power and gearing were very evident. much more grunt then an EVO. turn in was pretty typical Subaru, but the magic happened after. you got on the gas and the nose would just pull around through the corner. need some extra rotation? no problem, just give it some more gas for some power on oversteer. i believe i dropped another 3/10s or there about in the one run. definitely prefered the STi. IIRC, i was within 1sec of Andy's best fun run time in the car. the STi was definitly more brutal and difficult to control, but more rewarding and faster. the EVO was almost, dare i say, dainty, or maybe smoother is a better word. the STi likes to be flung by the scruff of the neck, the EVO seemed to like modulation.

SG's wagon can suck a ****, right along with her "e;i'm a slow ricer but oh i'm blonde so everybody love me and street racing is bad but running redlights and causing accidents is ok"e; b***h-a*s. i'm pretty sure she's part French :AR15firing: (the annoying part, not the fast part)
