Hi, Harold. Saw your post in another topic about your Protofab Riley Super-Vee.

I don't know much about them, but I think that David Boles' Protofab Riley Super-Vee was mentioned in a Grassroots Motorsports magazine article in the past year. I swapped email messages with David a few times. Nice guy. He's got a '79 Protofab Riley PR2. Built and driven by Gary Pratt of Pratt Miller Engineering. David's email address is [email protected] (I hope he wont mind me posting it here).

Harold: By all means, get in touch with Dave Boles. He has every bit of documentation on those cars including the Pratt/Riley shop drawings and set up specs. He has an extensive collection of race results dating back to the first Gold Cup outings for these cars. Dave's a great guy and he would be thrilled to hear from you. The monoposto group has allowed Dave's car to run with us in the past in Vintage races although it's ground effects technology is technically in violation of the flat bottom F 70 rules. Typically though they will allow any car '79 or older so I'm sure you would be welcome at any Monoposto F 70 event. We need more super vees out running. I'll look forward to seeing you come out.

I have talked with David in the past. We have exchanged information. Also in our small group is Jim Vawter from CA . Jim has the MRA-Riley that was raced by Denny Moothart. From what we have pieced togather Jims car is a first design ground effects car as is mine. Davids car is a second design ground effects car. Both of these cars were Pro-Raced and have significant history. My car appears to have been Club raced only. It's complete history is unknown at this time. I do know that it was owned by Jim Griffith. I have also heard rumors that it was used as a mule during the development of the first Griffith cars. I don't have any confirmation of this however. Hopefully someone who can fill in the blanks will someday surface.

Harold; Give Jim a call at Polestar Racing in Chardon, Ohio. He'll be able to fill you in on his history with that car. I think Jim will be back in the shop early in the week and then down to Morosso for the National next weekend. E-mail me if you need his cell number to contact him on the road. Good luck.

Does anyone have contact info for the owner of the Denny Moothart raced MRA-Riley?  Denny passed away yesterday and his family asked me to locate the car just so they would know where it was.  I was a Chassis Engineering manager for Denny at Chrysler.

    Thanks,  Bob Jordan   [email protected]
