Anyone else think it's time to ban Danno since he hasn't posted pics yet?

No, because its an ugly car :-p
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car, understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take it with you.

Hehe, yeah.  It looks just like the ones on the website.  You'll hate it.  (Except that it is modded now, I got rid of the ugly seatbelt guide for the center rear seatbelt I'll never use.)

I went out to a park yesterday when it was sunny and beautiful and took a bunch of photos.  In yesterday's episode we learned that a Canon Digital Rebel will happily snap picture after picture with no memory card in the card slot.  This is what I get for borrowing my wife's snazzy camera instead of the one I got in the cereal box.

Today it is cold, windy and grey, but for all of you I will go take more pictures.  I might even remember to put a card in the camera this time.

Edit: yay!  pictures!

Edit: yay!  avatar changed!

Is the STi badge larger?   No WRX STi?

Looks like the tires could be used in months other than June-Aug unlike the old Re070s?

Good luck keeping that dark color looking nice.  I gave up on my black STi after 6 months.

A lot of the documentation (like the FSM, which I have just finished painstakingly downloading) refers to the car as "WRX STI" (now with a capital I), but the badges only have the "STi" logo.

Well, I think we got at least a little sleet today, so I'm about to find out.  [:)]   Otherwise, I'll be sampling the VDC yaw control.  The tires are a new Dunlop (SP600) which apparently did not exist before their life as OEM STi tires, so they're kind of an unknown.

Tires were surprisingly decent in the sleet, for "summer" tires.  Deeper snow is probably another story.

I actually did get the yaw control to engage once, which requires getting more than just slightly out of shape (which is good).  It was kind of like a mommy taking scissors away from a toddler.  "Just...just...Tommy...GIVE ME THAT!"  It felt like it cut power and started pulsing the right front brake to straighten the car out.

Congrats on the new car, Dan! I like the color. Overall, I feel mixed about the new WRX/STI. They're nice looking cars, but they look sort of... generic. Could just as well be a Mazda 3 or a Civic. The STI certainly looks much better than the base WRX, though.

Why STU? This could make for a good AS car. Forget about those street tires. Grip > squeal.

I've seen a GC8 STi (?) in the parking lot at work a few times. Muggy would probably make his pants wet. I'm not sure if it's real, or a fake. It definitely goes beyond adding pink stickers to a 2.5 RS. I had a peek through the hood scoop, and spotted an intercooler.

I think they look much better in person than in photos, for some odd reason.  But the combination of STi performance + hatchback daily driver appeals to me.

So that one day I might be able to make Arshad cry.  Do I need another reason?  [:D]

Making Arshad cry sounds like an excellent reason. But maybe you could do that by running faster than him in a stock STI?

I'm actually quite serious about the AS suggestion. With cars that sort of suck in stock trim, there are good reasons to take them to ST or SP. They become much more fun to drive. With a car that handles well from the factory, it's different. Alignment, put a big front swaybar on that thing, get some A6's (275's should fit?), and you're ready to roll.

Anyway, good luck with the car.
Danno, What are you doing with your current WRX?  Trade-in / Keep?  You must be close to 150K on the odo.
Happily, the plan is to put it in the hands of a couple of talented new autocrossers in our region.  I'll let them say who they are if they choose.  :)  But hopefully you'll still be seeing the car on course this year.

I just dropped into the forum tonight and saw this.  My grandson Adam Shipley, from the 07 Index Challenge winning team, will be driving it this season.  He seemed to do ok with a total of only two autocross events that Dans car would be a good ride for him and myself ocassionally.  He can't wait for the season to get started.  I'm going over to see Dan's new car tomorrow.
