It's gonna be great to have you in STU. Congratulations ahead of time and I will beg you for a "ride-along" at some point.

Just in time to bring down to the 100aw and break it in right :)

That's the color I'd pick too, esp if you put some black or gray rims on it.

Perrin Performance got their STi yesterday and their gnomes are diving right into it: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...?t=1405260

Hopefully Cobb will get their hands on one soon as well. [:D]

They're telling me that my car will be in either the second or third week of February.  I read somewhere that midwestern shipments come through the New England port instead of the northwest port, thus this being about the last part of the country to see them. [:'(]

Edit: I think my car is in the second shipment, though.  I wouldn't be surprised to see one on the street this month.

At least we can expect that it will be broken-in in time for the first event!

Dan, I know how hard break in can bo, SO Im offering my "Shawn's Special Break In Service" to you, freee of charge. You provide:

1 New Sti for 4000 miles

Oil and filters for changes at 500;1,000 and 3,000 miles.

At 4000(plus whatever the distance from my house to yours is)miles you get your STI all properly broken in, washed waxed and vaccumed wearing 2006 WRX brakes, 2001 RS wheels with a wonderfully charismatic 2.2l NA motor in place of that raucus 2.5l fire breathing beasty. As an added bonus you'll also get more comfortable less supportive 2006 TR seats and the tried and tested (roflmao) WRX 5 speed transmission.

One time offer act now and we'll throw in a free can of boost fluid!

That's a very generous offer!  What brand boost fluid?  (I'm planning on using only QRJX Super Plaid.)

If I make it to 100AW this year it will probably be as a spectator, but my calendar keeps changing, so you never know...

Edit: Shawn, you should read NASIOC more - if you did, you'd know that the 08 engine, brakes, seats, wheels, tires, suspension and cupholders are all crap.  You wouldn't want any of those things.

Danno, What are you doing with your current WRX?  Trade-in / Keep?  You must be close to 150K on the odo.

Happily, the plan is to put it in the hands of a couple of talented new autocrossers in our region.  I'll let them say who they are if they choose.  :)  But hopefully you'll still be seeing the car on course this year.

Yes, I'll get some photos up by the weekend at least.  Here are some first impressions, odds and ends:

The shifters on each Subaru I drive just get a little bit better each time.  It's very smooth and easy to find gears (except for an initial attempt to back out of the parking spot in 6th [:P]) but there's a nice notch to let you know it's into the gear.

The people grousing about the seats are mostly correct.  They aren't bad by any means, but they make me miss the WRX seats.

Keeping it under 4000 rpm for break-in is not nearly as much of a penalty box as it was in the WRX.  It has enough push at 2500 to be plenty of fun to drive.

I thought SI-drive would be a gimmick I'd never really use, but the Sport-sharp setting is actually touchy enough that I was going back to "I" for driving in traffic.  Haven't fiddled with VDC or DCCD yet.

It has sort of stubby little side-mirrors that make me think I'm not seeing enough in them.  I still haven't decided whether I like or dislike them, though.

Love love love the color.  In full sunlight it looks grey, at dusk it looks black, under streetlights it's almost a bluish gunmetal color.  The stock wheels are beautiful and insides of the spokes are shaped to match the shape of the brake calipers, something that doesn't really show up in photos.

Fit and finish is excellent.  If you were going to strip one down, I would imagine there'd be a lot of sound deadening that could be taken out - the car has a more solid, "big-car" feel than the WRX.

That's all I can think of for now.  Must sleep, awaken, and drive more.
