5 Replies and 135 Views howdy....just another noob signing up  135  5 Started by  tberry yet another attempt by me to occupy more space on the web. I did my first solo2 about two months ago in Htown n looking forward to future ones (with better tires hopefully ).I have some pretty decent footage of the Houston SoloII events from the past few months and was wondering if someone have server space to host them. I can make em mpeg4 so they are small yet still have some decent quality.

11 Replies and 178 Views I broke my car!  178  11 Started by  Syntari While working on my car today, I made a dumb mistake. I was bolting my strut tower bar back on without a torque wrench, and sheared one of the bolts off. Now there are two of the three bolts left on that side securing the top of the MacPherson strut. I can have it fixed on Monday, but I really wanted to autocross on Sunday. If I can't, I'll be lucky to show up to even one event this season. :( Will this pass the tech inspection More importantly, is it safe, or likely to cause more damag...

I don't have the final results yet, but I ran (approx., this is from memory) a 74 sec run, then a 65 sec run, then a 61 second run in Heat 1, then a 62 sec run in Heat 3 (after working a 3-1/2 hour Heat 2 in the middle of a concrete parking lot from 11:30 until 3:00 in 95 degree heat with the Texas sun beating down. :angry-smiley-055: ).For comparison, the B-mods were running 48's. and the top STS/STX guys were runn...

Hey, I've been going to Solo 2 events for a few monthes now, I'm too young to drive, and the people that run the show said I couldnt participate in the races (when I asked about riding as a passenger). I'm 14, and I have the proper form to enter the event, but I'm still being told that I'm not allowed to ride. Now after reading the current edition of the "e;SCCA NATIONAL SOLO"e; rule book, I came across an interesting article. On page 41, section 1.4, under the header "e;Event Operat...

27 Replies and 356 Views Helmet Question  356  27 Started by  axncatsma
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have the opportunity to buy a really nice pair of helmets from my brother since he sold his motorcycle. I've done some research on the SoloII and SCCA sites, but cannot come up with a definitive answer on their suitability/"e;legality"e; for SoloII. These helmets are DOT rated (FMVSS N.218), and do not have a Snell sticker. Can I use them for SoloII Don't want to buy them and then find out I can't use them...Thanks for letting yet another newbie ask the helmet question.

This is a dumb question and should take about 1 post to answer. How long does the event last How late into the afternoon Previously, I have gone and watched in the morning, and left between 12 and 1. But this weekend, I'm gonna need all the sleep I can get.

3 Replies and 130 Views Hello  130  3 Started by  seanb Hey I've been really interested in autocross, I like the idea of the driver being the deciding factor moreso than the car. The only problem is I have a B Stock car(porsche 928s). Is it going to make a big difference I don't want to go looking like I'm showing off, just want to have fun. :honk:

8 Replies and 142 Views Interior accessories  142  8 Started by  Syntari I have a 10"e; subwoofer and amp installed in the rear of my Focus. I've looked into easy ways to make it removable for autocross, but there don't seem to be any options. If I have an aftermarket method of securing it all so it doesn't move during an event, does it fall under 13.2A of the Solo 2 stock rules (accessories with no performance or handling effect) Would this sort of permanent weight (about 30 pounds directly over my left rear tire) hinder me very badly

8 Replies and 169 Views BEST CAR  169  8 Started by  rob higgins A friend took me to a few auto cross events and I'm now looking for a ride for myself. I was wondering what some people thought would be a good car.I have 4 maybe 5 thousand to spend. I know that what ever car you own is the best ,but try to be objective and recommend a good beginner car. I want some thing light that has the potential to be improved as time goes by. Tires and wheels is all that I will do in the first year, I'll see how good the driver is and then decide if I want to modify the c...
