2 Replies and 1366 Views what psi to use, and what handling to expect with over-width tires  1366  2 Started by  root I am getting 225/45/17 RT615 tires for the stock 17x6.5J wheels on the mazda3.  The tire size is a bit too wide for the rim, but I see many people using tires that are waay too wide for the rim at autocross events, so I assume the effects of this sort of mismatch are well understood. My questions are: what pressure should I run the tires at for autocross  For the stock tires (205/50/17) I was watching rollover, and ran the lowest pressure that would not allow any (41 psi for eagle R...

Im running a 99 Mustang 3.8 liter v6 on all season tires.TOTALLY STOCK My first time out I ran at 43 lbs all around but upped to 47 and felt more solid. 2 Replies and 762 Views is there a rule of thumb how many seconds a set of hoosiers will shave?  762  2 Started by  root on local level events it's pretty hard to gauge my progress, the novices aren't very consistent, and the good guys are running R-comps. I was wondering if there's a rule of thumb i can apply to see how many seconds i am behind the class leader.  The HS class leader in my area runs 2004 mini on hoosiers, and I am running mazda3 on stock all-seasons, 3.5 seconds behind.  If there's a way to estimate how many seconds an average HS car on an average course gains by going from all-seasons ...

8 Replies and 1072 Views Novice Class, do I need an 'N'  1072  8 Started by  SGleason In the Kate Hughes Novice Handbook, there is mention of a Novice Class. It says that you should put an 'N' after the class letters on your car. Do we do that here Any other information about the Novice Class BTW: I was at the Novice School on Sunday, had a great time.

I just wanted to say hello! I got my car about a month ago and am ready to start learning what I need to know. My husband is into Drag racing so he isn't much help with the autocross. So whatever help I can get will be appreciated. Already trying to get on the wait list for the Novice class in March. Hopefully they'll get to add some openings.

8 Replies and 851 Views New - need accident/insurance info  851  8 Started by  jwilds I ran my first autocross in September and I'm hooked!  I am now spending the winter trying to get out from under a lease of a non-autocross-friendly car and into something more 'sporting'. But, what do most people do insurance-wise  I was under the impression that most insurance companies won't pay for damages/injuries if they can prove the incident was during a timed event.  What issues are their with insurance, life and/or car  Any benefit to removing license plates, hid...

5 Replies and 610 Views New and looking to learn.  610  5 Started by  Morwan I bought my first non-junker car ('90 Celica GT), and I'm thinking about doing AutoX.
